About my practice

My work is inspired by the natural sciences and the evolving systems we use to understand the world. A key influence is Systema Naturae, Carl Linnaeus’ 18th-century classification system, which divided nature into three kingdoms: Regnum Animale (Animal), Regnum Vegetabile (Plant), and Regnum Lapideum (Mineral).
I am drawn to the details of the intricate and the immense, that awaken the senses, spark curiosity, and resonate on a deeper level.
Presented as Animalia, Botania, Geologia, and and added celestial element, Astronomia, my jewellery explores textures drawn from fur, tree bark, rock formations, and lunar surfaces. These forms shift and transform—sometimes distinct, sometimes ambiguous—inviting interpretation by the wearer. Boundaries blur, surfaces evolve.

These textures and forms are made working with metal tools, my hands, and heat. I carve and shape the pieces in jeweller’s wax which are later cast into treasured pieces that reflect the natural world and its phenomena.
The handcrafting of the wax models, preparing for setting, finishing, photography and documenting are done by yours truly, however I do outsource a couple of parts of my process to ensure the highest quality and technical proficiency. My casting is done by a fine metals casting house in Melbourne using 100% recycled materials, and I rely on the expertise of a highly skilled and experienced gem setter for my stone setting. If I require flawless engraving, I entrust this to specialists in both hand and laser engraving.
The resulting works are considered and individual, and my hope is that they are treasured forever as precious collectors and containers of time.
My fascination with materials, textures, and transformation has shaped my practice from the beginning. I first studied jewellery at NMIT in Collingwood in 2001, drawn to metal’s durability and longevity, and to jewellery’s ability - as small, significant personal objects - to hold memory, philosophy, and identity. These are things worn close, carried daily, and deeply cherished.
Continuing at RMIT, I pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Gold and Silversmithing with Honours, where I explored evolution, entropy, and the transformative potential of materials.
Since graduating in 2008, I have refined my studio practice, creating wearable, precious pieces that carry the essence of the natural world—objects to hold, wear, and treasure.
I completed a Master of Curatorship at the University of Melbourne in 2016, with a focus on collections care—exploring how objects that hold value and cultural knowledge are shared, cared for, and preserved. I have occasionally been found working in exhibitions and collections-based roles.
